SEI Expands with Acquisition in Mid-Atlantic Region


Stephenson Equipment (SEI), a leading provider of Construction Equipment, Public Works Equipment and Cranes in Pennsylvania and Upstate New York, has announced its acquisition of Valley Supply & Equipment in Maryland, Virginia, and D.C. The acquisition aligns with Stephenson Equipment's commitment to delivering top-notch service and support. Customers will now have the additional benefits of SEI's total resources, including access to the full inventory of equipment, parts, rental fleet, and the additional service technicians and product specialists.

Beyond the increased benefits for customers, with this acquisition Valley's employees will become employee-owners of Stephenson Equipment. SEI proudly became an employee-owned company in 2023 and all full-time employees receive ESOP contributions as an additional & impactful benefit. Valley Supply & Equipment and their employees are a natural fit for SEI. In addition to expanding SEI's footprint, Valley Supply and SEI share a number of important manufacturers. Upon acquiring Valley, SEI will grow to 294 employees strong. Company History

Stephenson Equipment was founded in 1957 by Paul Stephenson. Over the years, SEI grew the business to include Cranes, Construction Equipment, and Public Works lines. Paul Stephenson sold the majority interest in SEI to Jim and Karen Penman in 1992, who would later sell majority interest to Dennis Heller and Bob Criste in 2003. In 2017, SEI acquired Walsh Equipment in Western PA in addition to several other dealership acquisitions over the years. In January of 2023, SEI became an Employee-Owned Company.

With the Valley acquisition, SEl expands to 13 service facilities adding locations in Hagerstown, and Baltimore in Maryland, and Manassas Park, VA.
